Walyarra is currently supporting the Duncan Gordon Road Upgrade project in Halls Creek for Main Roads Western Australia, delivering plant and operational support across multiple work fronts within the project corridor.
The works focus on improving road safety, drainage performance and long-term reliability of the regional road network through targeted upgrades and flood mitigation infrastructure.
Operating within remote Kimberley conditions, Walyarra has mobilised a dedicated fleet including:
2x Double Side Tippers
1x CAT 336 Excavator
1x Padfoot Roller
1x Semi Watercart
1x Rigid Watercart
This plant spread supports bulk material haulage, excavation activities, compaction works and moisture conditioning throughout the project.
The CAT 336 excavator is supporting excavation and associated civil works across the corridor, while the double side tippers assist with efficient material movement and supply. The padfoot roller provides compaction support for earthworks and pavement preparation, with both the semi watercart and rigid watercart supporting moisture control and dust suppression activities throughout construction operations.
The project also supports Indigenous workforce participation across key operational roles. Indigenous personnel are engaged on the CAT 336 excavator, padfoot roller and rigid watercart, contributing to project delivery while supporting employment and skills development opportunities within the Kimberley region. With Walyarra’s allotment of plant, we are supporting a 50% Indigenous participation KPI on this project.
The project is being delivered under a 14-days-on / 7-days-off roster arrangement, with crews operating in remote conditions throughout the Halls Creek region.
The Duncan Gordon Road Upgrade demonstrates Walyarra’s capability in delivering remote civil construction support services across the Kimberley, with a focus on operational efficiency, safety, Indigenous participation and reliable project delivery.
