Duncan-Gordon Road Upgrades Commence in Halls Creek for Main Roads WA

Walyarra has commenced works on the Duncan Gordon Road upgrade project in Halls Creek for Main Roads Western Australia (MRWA), supporting infrastructure improvements along sections of the regional road network between SLK 13 and SLK 45.

The project includes a range of upgrade works designed to improve safety, drainage performance and long-term road reliability across the corridor.

Supporting Regional Road Upgrades in Halls Creek

Duncan Gordon Road is an important regional access route within the Halls Creek area, supporting movement for local communities, freight operators and regional traffic.

The scope of works includes line of sight improvements through both horizontal and vertical alignment upgrades, helping improve visibility and road safety for road users. Additional works include culvert installation and floodway concrete construction to improve drainage performance and strengthen the road network during seasonal weather events.

These upgrades form part of broader efforts to improve the reliability and resilience of regional infrastructure across the Kimberley.

Plant and Equipment Mobilised by Walyarra

As part of the project delivery, Walyarra has successfully mobilised a range of plant and equipment to support the upgrade works.

This includes:

  • Two double side tippers

  • A 15,000L watercart

  • A semi watercart

  • A CAT 336 excavator with rock breaker and accompanying buckets

  • A CAT CS78B padfoot roller

This plant spread supports earthworks, material haulage, moisture conditioning and rock breaking activities required throughout the project.

Using the right combination of equipment is critical in remote civil construction projects, particularly where productivity, efficiency and ground conditions can vary significantly across the work area.

Delivering Works in Remote Kimberley Conditions

Operating in remote areas such as Halls Creek requires detailed planning and coordination. Workforce logistics, plant mobilisation and changing site conditions all contribute to the complexity of regional infrastructure delivery.

Reliable delivery in remote environments depends on experienced operators, dependable plant and the ability to adapt to changing site requirements throughout the works program.

Supporting Infrastructure Across the Kimberley

Regional road upgrades play an important role in improving safety, access and long-term connectivity throughout the Kimberley. Drainage improvements, floodway construction and alignment upgrades all contribute to stronger and more reliable infrastructure outcomes.

Walyarra continues to support civil construction and infrastructure projects across regional Western Australia, delivering practical solutions across road construction, maintenance and earthworks projects
